I really look at reviews and other info on books before I buy them to avoid those that end on cliffhangers, such as this one did. Although the story is great, and the book as free, I still would not have read it if I had known that the book was not a complete novel. If it was a complete novel I would have given it 5 stars.Product details

No seriously, I didn't sleep. I tried reading the not so racy parts while I was at work. It's been a while since I've been so stuck on a book series. I usually go back and forth between two or three books at once but not with this series. I ended up getting the whole series and finishing everything in two days and now I'm sad that it's over. I really really enjoyed these books. They moved at the perfect pace and had enough intrigue. I dislike when there's too much recap from one book to the next or when the plot gets so thick that I lose interest. I also hate when there's excessive violence or when the main character is too weak and needy. I fell in love with the main female character which I don't think I say very often. Definitely look forward to reading more from this author!
What a brilliant paranormal book! There is so much going on in this book I honestly don't know where to begin. The characters are mysterious with both dark and light qualities. The mysterious disappearance of Alyssa's mom, Callie, is only one of several stories or plot lines. Kane, seemed so amazing throughout this book; however, now I have to wonder if he truly does love Alyssa or was he using her and I sure can't wait to find out, as well, what at happened to Callie. This book has everything and more that any paranormal enthusiast would enjoy (witches, warlocks, shifters, lycan, and vampire). Excellent writing and a great read.
I can't tell you how much I love this series. This is my third read through I admit, but it all starts with the first book, and in this book, I fell in love with Kane and Alyssa. While I don't usually go for the twisty-turny kinda story, I loved this ride. Each book drove me nuts and introduced more characters that I wanted to know more about, but never pulled my focus from one thing, how can a witch... and a night walker end up together.
I loved this series. I know it says its a 3 books series but you wil be so happy its 8 boos istead. I got to the end of book 3 and started panicking. In lots of series this long i get boarded by book 4/5 but not this series I was still figuring it out in the middle of the last book. The characters are funny and loveable. Its predictable in that love story way its easy to see some of who will be couples but not every matchup. its not a set group of people. They really change and grow. If you read this first book be prepared to buy them all. Read where you can laugh out loud.
While I really enjoyed this series and ran through the books like a crazy person, Alyssa just didn't do it for me. I thought, especially in the first book, but really in all of them, she cried way too much, I'm talking like excessive. I liked the supporting characters and I understand the need to show innocence in the world she was living in, but it really just grated on my nerves every time she cried. With that said, it really is worth the read!
So this is my second time reading this series. The first time around I was so captivated and engrossed in the book I just kept reading one book after the other and never wrote a review. So I decided to take the chance do it this time around because this is a GREAT series and as soon as you start you won't be able to stop. C.M. Owens is an incredible writer and you should check out all her books, they are completely addicting.
As for this book in general I love the romance between Alyssa and Kane. Their chemistry is off the charts hot but their love for each other is so sweet and cute. This story keeps you entertained by all the action and great story line.
I love CM Owens. Love her. I think these books are probably the only thing of hers I haven't read. While I love the story, Alyssa's, well let's call spade a spade, stupidity and lack of ability to think with anything but her hormones grated on me the entire book.

You have a guy that leaves you high and dry right in the middle of things getting steamy not once, but twice to take care of another girl - one who's seriously obsessed with him - and you still fall all over yourself for him?
You know nothing about him, he lives with said girl and their friends who you state show you disdain and disapproval over your relationship with him but you're still all for it? There are so many more issues with her just being blind. I try to tell myself she's only 20 and obviously sheltered, but still. Ugh. I'm going to the next book now and hoping she wises up and gets a backbone.
